Should the government tax wealth or income?

neither.. only consumption should be taxed. taxing wealth would be a total disaster.

There reportedly are 46,000 people in the top 1%. The median wealth is around $7,600,000. People can better appreciate numbers instead of words like "very wealthy". In business school they taught that a wealthy person is someone who has earned over $700,000 per year for ten years. That is another number which can be used. Of course, if they do not manage their spending correctly, they end up being poor like our country but are still considered wealthy.

The million dollar question...

The government must have tax revenues. What we always hear is the need for more money with very little attention to responsible spending and controls.
