If you want to buy an option or stock,the ask is what you will pay if you want to get filled right then.I never buy at the market,I try to get inbetween the bid and ask but the ask is what they are asking for the stock or option.That's the way I've always understood it.There is a buyer for every seller and I understand what you're saying.GD
