The best we ever had it economically was in the 50's for two reasons.

1) We had 35% unionization. The middle class grew out of unions. In all of history the working man was never, ever, ever treated fairly with fair wages and safe working conditions until the strong unionization starting in the 30's.

We need to rebuild those unions and extend them to work like agriculture, processing sea food and restaurants.

1) The second thing that made the 50's so good was the very progressive tax system.
