i don't believe that vsgn ever traded at 3.5. it traded down to 4 during the monday tuesday crash, but borl also saw 8 or 8 1/8 on tuesday morning. so the downside is less severe than you imply. in addition the upside may be more than $1, if vsgn is seen to be attractive to another company to thwart the borland acquisition. not likely, but no more unlikely than having the borl/vsgn deal crater.

anyway i was about to buy borl because of the strong recent price action, but found a vsgn buy at 7 1/2 to be an attractive way to accomplish the same end.
