MSFT early on (prior to bundling) built up market share by
"dumping" at same time Netscape was moving to selling browser.

This claim is interesting and therefore I would like to address it.

The "prior to bundling" issue is interesting because Internet Explorer was always in the product Microsoft licensed to OEM's so when was there a time prior to bundling? BTW - the product Microsoft licenses to OEM's is different than what you buy in the store retail for instance my new PC (with Windows95) has FAT32 but the version of Windows95 I can buy at the store does not!

The next interesting statement you make is "built up market share by "dumping" at same time Netscape was moving to selling browser."

Well this statement looks to me like Netscape did the classic dumping strategy which is give it away and then raise the price. As I remember Mr. Gates has stated the Internet Explorer is free and will always be free. I guess unless the gov't told Microsoft you must charge for it.

RE: " I saw the thread, but you confuse two issues..."

I give up. I can't figure out what you are saying.

Two issues: "dumping" the other is "bundling". Consent decree is about "bundling" not "dumping".

My issue with previous post was about dumping.
