Coherent And Motorola Announce Agreement
LEESBURG, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 24, 1997--
Coherent Communications Systems Corporation and Motorola's Information Security Division announced today an agreement to market Coherent's Consortium(TM) Conference System with Motorola's CipherLINK(TM) system - creating the world's first commercial encrypted conference system.
Secure conferencing is an important issue, particularly for global organizations requiring top quality communications within a secure system. By connecting the market-proven Coherent Consortium system to Motorola's CipherLINK system, the market now has access to a new level of conferencing performance, offering security for both incoming and outgoing conference calls, combined with maximum automation and transparency to the user.
Coherent's Consortium is an advanced telephone conferencing system that supports multiple conferences simultaneously, enabling remote scheduling of conferences from any location via a telephone. Motorola's CipherLINK system can provide encrypted security to any existing desktop telephone connected to a PBX or Centrex switch within a CipherLINK system. This system provides voice security infrastructure for building or campus environments, allowing users to initiate and receive secure calls from any telephone within a CipherLINK system. By utilizing the Secure Conferencing Bridge, organizations are able to hold ''virtual'' meetings effectively, involving participants from around the world without the usual time and travel constraints. Above all, they have the assurance that the discussions are held in confidence. Sales meetings, product and technology meetings, marketing and strategic business meetings can now be held via telephone with the same degree of privacy that exists in closed-door sessions.
''Our customers have been requesting high level, high assurance secure conferencing for some time,'' said Jerry Ogden, Motorola Product Manager. ''Coherent is well known and well respected in the telecommunications arena. We believe this is a value-added agreement that provides high assurance, user-friendly products to the end-user community, especially beneficial for large organizations with global operations.''
Commenting for Coherent, Bob Cash, Senior VP of Sales, said: ''The teamwork between our two companies has been exceptional, enabling the design of the world's first commercial encrypted conference platform to be achieved quickly and efficiently. Our combined expertise has produced a high performance system, responding fast to the market demand for more secure conferencing. We are delighted to be working with Motorola on what promises to be a very successful product.''
Motorola has over 30 years of experience in secure encrypted telecommunications, initially serving the government and military markets. The CipherLINK system is part of a family of secure telecommunication products developed primarily for the commercial and international markets by the Secure Telecommunications Products Business Unit of Motorola's Space and Systems Technology Group, Information Security Division.
Coherent's Consortium Conference System supports 2 to 96 participants in a single conference or in multiple conferences. Consortium operates on an easy-to-use platform, compatible with most telephone and PBX systems. Its highly rated graphical user interface (GUI) and touch tone controls make the system intuitive to use. Conferences can be totally automated, with callers directly accessing the conference by entering a code via a touch tone phone. Coherent's industry-leading digital echo cancellation and line equalization at each port deliver clear, full duplex audio, even when all participants speak simultaneously.
Coherent Communications Systems Corporation is a worldwide leader in state of the art voice enhancement technology, audio conferencing products, and echo cancellation platforms and associated network software. The Company's conferencing products are used by such customers as Lockheed Martin, Fox News, NASA, The 96 Summer Olympics, and The White House.
