Everyone draws the line somewhere, I would hope: tobacco, Libyan bank bonds, gas suppliers for the ovens at Auschwitz.... More than that, though, I also call a halt at being deceived by the likes of Bud Paxson. I've seen him interviewed, I've read the company prospectus, I've researched the industry as thoroughly as anyone not sitting on Wall Street could, I think, and NOWHERE did Paxson indicate until this week that his "network" was to be religiously-oriented. While I agree that buying UHF stations in major markets before the conversion to HDTV is a good long-term bet, I disagree that substantial profits equalling or exceeding industry averages can be generated with "network" programming of the sort he says his wife likes -- namely, fundamentalist Christian propaganda. It's not only incredibly dumb, it's boring and it appeals to the wrong demographic audience profiles.
