Sure, but to the extent you can transition to a consumption tax it has got to be a good thing IMO. Cain's tax plan calls for ripping out the current Internal Revenue Code by its roots. As one who dealt with that turkey for a substantial portion of my work life, it sounds great to me.

Of course, the real issue is spending, but how will you get people to vote for spending cuts if they don't have skin in the game?

You won't.

It is funny, the Left is constantly going on about how the Right are idiots because they don't "believe in science" -- yet, they seemingly have no trouble ignoring the science of BF Skinner and the entire field of psychology, which is some of most well-established science there is: When you give people money for not working, they're not going to work. When people get free benefits for being unproductive, you're going to get less productivity.

I can't think of anything with stronger scientific support than that.
