I'm 51. Old enough to have paid my dues, but too young to have much hope that I'll participate in the benefits of club membership before the club is disbanded.

Even under the most pessimistic estimates with current contribution levels SS would pay out ~70% of benefits ~20 years from now...why the dramatic remarks?

Alighieri asked a question and along with him I look forward to what your thoughts are. I am upset that the Congress takes our SS money to fund the various efforts of the Govt. including fighting foreign wars.
