Yes, this is exactly what happened in Virginia!

This does not bode well for Tim Kaine, a former Virginia Governor. Obama got an early endorsement by Gov. Tim Kaine in the 2006-2008 campaign.

Kaine was touted in Virginia to possibly be the Vice President candidate with Obama.
When that did not happen, Obama made him the Democrat National Committee Chairman.

Under Kaine's lack of leadership---------the Republicans gained control of the Virginia General Assembly and as you noted trounced the Democrats in this 2011 election.

Kaine is running for USA Senator in 2012 for the seat that Senator James Webb of Virginia is vacating. Webb was Secretary of the Navy under Reagan.

Obama used Kaine's coattails to run in Virginia with that early endorsement. Now Kaine will have to run on Obama's coattails----------one might say the ragged coattails of Obama.

With this kind of a close relationship between Obama and Kaine--------Kaine is damaged political goods.
