If iPhone sales are as week as we are hearing, these new smartphones from Samsung, HTC, LG, BBerry, Nokia and so on will be selling as door-stoppers come January.

I don't understand why the latter necessarily follows the former. The iPhone has been selling great for years now. The 4s had great pre and initial sales, but most people who want Apple phones have them by now, and the 4S just isn't a "must upgrade now" type of phone. Whenever they come out with the "5," iPhone sales will pick up again, IMHO.

Meanwhile, the Android phone vendors will have Ice Cream Sandwich to peddle, something new and presumably better. It may well give a real jolt to sales of non-Apple smartphones if the press on it is good. I think it will be.
