EKS, thanks for the report. I've not studied which specific sites in Wattenberg field APC is identifying. Here's an old article that gives some indication of the companies that hold drilling sites in Weld County, - Denver-Julesberg, Niobrara:

And repeating your 7/30/11 watch list: "I know AXAS, VOG and SSN all own Niobrara shale acreage. Here are others from my Niobrara watch list:
WIL, CRZO, DBLE, CLR, PQ, BBG, QEP, REXX, APC, PDC, SYRG and SDCJF. COP"

As I've earlier stated, I'm betting on the Niobrara, and I have various sized positions in several of the companies mentioned. Some of these stocks so far have done okay for me, some not. I'm not sure where I stand overall. A few days ago I sold DPTR (a gas producer in the DJ basin) at a loss. Company said it may file for bk. I'm underwater on SYRG, but the latest quarterly out today looks okay to me:
