Mohan,
I looked at index options and I think premiums for any play
in that arena is a suckers bet. I got lucky and covered FGII
yesterday, so I may try to short it again. Your hunch on bonds
may be good, but what would trigger it. Japanese could sell
t--bonds but with slowing worldwide growth , their positions
might be absorbed. Still searching for a play.

Everyone is talking about the Japanese selling their treasuries, but would not that be, for them, somewhat like the US selling gold from Fort Knox? I mean, that paper is a solid, interest-paying, anchor for their monetary and banking system. Not to speak of what selling might do to their relations with the US economically--and politically if such a move was seen as economic warfare and as causing the stock market to fall.
