The guy never said or claimed that the pentatonic scale was an african phenomenon, let's be fair about it... he said only that most all of the african chants made use of the pentatonic scale and that the melody from Amazing Grace originated from an african chant... if it's true, then it's true... I see nothing politically correct about making an honest statement about the origins of that melody... I fully agree with you that so much is twisted and misrepresented in academia, I spent more than my fair share of years in college and graduate and post graduate work, I had a belly full of their political bullshit... but i saw nothing in the presentation that was dishonest...

Joseffy,

Sorry, but you are wrong. I listened to the whole thing again very carefully. Wintly Phipps NEVER said a word about the pentatonic belonging "exclusively" to Blacks. He simply said that most "negro spirituals" were written on the black notes of the piano.....

I am the first to stand against PC garbage, but I am also the first to defend someone who is falsely accused.

Wintly Phipps said nothing that was inaccurate or false.

Someone else here didn't like the man's voice. That astonishes me. It is truly a gift from God.

And yes, I totally agree with him when he said, "Free or bond, black or white, in His eyes, we are all connected by God's Amazing Grace."
