Yeah, I know enterprise s/w are really sticky. What I don't know is the hardware side.

Have you used both Oracle ERP and SAP ERP? How would you compare the two?

Interestingly enough I have not seen much IBM-related at work either. Some people still use Lotus Notes. Some companies use Rational ClearCase. Neither are big deployments where I saw them. Both are crap SW IMHO. I don't think that's where IBM makes money. My guess is that IBM caters to non-tech megacaps especially financials, but I don't know if they are overly reliant on them.

As I said, I respect IBM Research in various areas, both HW and SW.
