Micron upgraded to Outperform at Oppenheimer; tgt $8

9:05 AM ET 11/17/11 | Briefing.com

Oppenheimer upgrades MU to Outperform from Perform and sets target price at $8 saying they expect MU shares to go higher since the overhang of the Rambus lawsuit has been lifted.

Firm notes Micron would have been on the hook for up to $12 bln ($4B sought by RMBS, automatic 3x damages in California).

While an appeal is to be expected in 2012, several factors look good: 1) Massive DRAM production cuts in the industry, very little new capacity coming on line; 2) Market NAND bit growth now getting dialed down to 65-75% from 75-85%.
