Regarding wine sales from NZ to China to soar due to tax reductions in China. Wow, that is quite an advantage for NZ wines which have been in glut for a couple of years with retail wine prices down about 40%. That is also the price that farmland is down. But NZ$ is now down from the high of US88c to US76c over a couple of months so that is making NZ a joke cheap place to go shopping, as Hong Kong was for NZ 40 years ago, for people with US$/yuan to go shopping, if not for the impoverished wastrel Kiwis. Retail shops here are closing in droves. Commercial property is for sale or lease by the ton.

I bid on 79 hectares of land [planted in chestnuts by somebody who didn't seem to do much investigation of what chestnuts like in the way of a homeland]. They are little trees so clearing them would not have been difficult. Valuation 3 years ago = NZ$6 million. Valuation a few months ago $5.4 million. Mortgagee sale this week at less than $2 million.

The NZ economic programme by governments and individuals called "Borrow and Hope" turned out to be not the way to build Utopia. Dissolute hedonism turns out to be not as good as Virtuous Victoria Values as a way of life either.

While feminism is wonderful and all that [look at Sea Otter], it turns out that Helen Clark was not all that great as a father to hundreds of thousands of children, despite her modulated voice. Strangely, even ducks seem to know that it's good for ducklings to have a father and a mother in attendance [but they are uneducated]. Humans in NZ have invented a better way [they think] - the father drinks alcohol, the government plays sugar daddy. The mother drinks alcohol too. And smokes dope. Dopey bludgers don't seem to be particularly economically productive, which is contrary to political dogma in NZ.

Don't drink too much NZ wine.
