a good doom & gloom article:

nytimes.com

“The current policy of lending plus austerity will lead to social unrest,” Mr. Connolly told investors and policy makers at a conference held this spring in Los Angeles by the Milken Institute, arguing the case that Greece, Italy, Portugal and Spain could not simply cut their way to recovery.

Clownbuck,

To me, your positions seem contradictory, at least in the short term. If an Italian bank goes down or some other bad European event, don't you think the dollar would rally significantly versus the Euro and other currencies?

For that reason, I don't see a big need to bet against the dollar. The dollar is already inversely correlated with equities right now (which I own) on concerns of a worldwide meltdown.

Long-term the dollar may be overvalued, but I don't believe that comes in focus until Europe sorts out its mess.
