I think all these new high mpg cars on the road will be a game changer when you look out a decade. The oil cartel here at home and the middle east will have to adjust in a major way as will our military industrial complex IMHO..

China depends upon exporting it's goods overseas.

To ensure that they don't lose that trade, they need to possess the capacity to protect their cargoes from confiscation, and/or sinking.

They don't possess that at this time. And I don't see many countries lining up to engage in security treaties with Bejing. If anything, it the exact opposite as neighboring countries fear China's bullying and are seeking alignment under a US security umbrella..
