Herman Cain Cain Former CEO of Godfather's Pizza Because Herman Cain has never held public office, he does not have a voting record to analyze. In 2011, Cain said he "absolutely would defund Planned Parenthood." 1 He has boasted that he is "pro-life from conception." 2 In his 2004 campaign for the U.S. Senate, Cain said that "Once the Supreme Court decided that the right to life was obsolete, the very basis of our country was lost." 3 In 2004, Cain also said he opposed abortion even in cases of rape and incest. 4 In October 2011, he reiterated this opposition on NBC's "Meet the Press," saying, "Not for rape and incest. Because if you look at rape and incest, the percentage of those instances is so minuscule that there are other options." 5 News & Updates An Open Letter to Herman Cain We agree with Herman Cain that he is anti-choice. But he's wrong about the powers of the president. In fact, the president has tremendous power over reproductive-health policy in the United States.
