Ending the Bush tax cuts is an important first step because it would free up funds for education and necessary social programs. Cutting Defense spending and agricultural subsidies is also important.

how does doing that help narrow the gap between rich and poor?

Lets see that would take us back to the tax rates under Bill Clinton. I thought there were more millionaires created under Clinton than any other president. Is their objective to create more rich people or keep more people poor?
