Google+ is taking off in a MASSIVE way... expect Google+ to surpass FB within the next 18 months, and maybe sooner..... You underestimate the self-reinforcing power of first mover status facebook has. Nowhere is "network effect" more significant than on a social network. It is the very definition of entrenchment. Google can leverage their mobile and other platforms, but I think that will help only marginally. I'm on g+ now...
