To: Follies who wrote (118139 ) 11/23/2011 1:28:12 AM From: Paul V. Respond to of 224755 Follies, I am not sure what you are trying to say. Because the super committee didnt agree on cuts, the automatic cuts will be different from the cuts you think should be made? I was amazed as you when the hospital administrator indicated that his email to other administrator stated that there would be a $1,000,000 cut in their revenues. The only thing I could figure out was that the there is a difference between the fiscal years of the State of Missouri and the Federal fiscal year. In the US the fiscal year is from October 1-Sept. 30. Therefore, Congress will be working on the 2013 fiscal budget year, that is if they can get a budget negotiated as to revenue increase and/or cuts. However, in Missouri the fiscal year begins on July 1-June 30 for the current 2012 year. Then, in or about January 10, 2012 the State Legislative Session begins working on the 2013 budget. Therefore, the State Legislator will probably not know what will happen to the approximate 2/3 of the State revenue which comes from the Feds and designated revenues. In Missouri the Legislature only has control of approximately 1/3 of the State Budget. The States will not have any idea what the Feds will do, and with a State Balanced budget amendment the State will have to protect the State from possible cuts in social service (medicaid, food stamps, unemployment, SSI, etc.), education and other federal mandated programs. This uncertainty of revenue would drive any financial manager nuts.Or is it that you think the super committee should have come to an agreement of no cuts? Or cuts that are different from the cuts your friends want? Exactly what are you trying to say? Cuts and revenue increases will be necessary to reduce the 15 trillion debt.Maybe you don't think we need cuts? Or do you think others should experience the cuts but not you or your friends? Sounds a lot like tax the other guy. Honestly, for myself, it would be to my benefit to have the cuts on the budget side and revenue where I would not have to pay capital gains, Cain's 9,9,9 or a flat (fair tax), etc. I will only pay what I am required to pay and take all the tax deductions which the Federal Government and State will allow me to take. That is the Governments responsible to look out for all the US citizens as a whole not just those of us who are taking the steps to maximize our profits at the expense of the less fortunate. Buffet, is correct that we have a responsibility to our fellow Americans to help them help themselves to succeed. Please explain where you think the cuts should be and how those people with cuts would not be affected.
