Bill- I know you have pointed out to me in our debates the fact that DSC is the lock for BA, therefore it follows WSTL is pretty much a shoo-in as long as BA stays with a DSC platform. At first glance, I also thought the GTE news of a contract with DSC bode well for WSTL.

But what happens if GTE goes with DMT? WSTL is not DCS's choice for DMT equipment. That would lock out WSTL from the GTE contract. IF WSTL wins GTE ILEC in 1Q98 we will see WSTL stock price go up a few points. If WSTL loses due to a DMT decision (or other issues), this puppy has nowhere to go buy straight down.

I used to be a big proponent of WSTL. I have rethought my perspective and now feel it is better to wait and see what will happen (when we finally see ADSL deployments in BA for example) or wait till the stock price takes a significant hit to buy in. What is the point of buying now in view of all the current risk and meaningful deployments still a year away. Why not buy in a few months after things settle down. What am I missing?
