[Chat] Jack -- Yep, I'm wondering about Siemens, too. With their strong working ties to TI, they probably aren't as threatened by the buyout as those chip houses without them, but, they still may want to own the ADSL technology they're depending on going forward. As for the others, I think Motorola stands to lose the most. Will they come forward? Hard to say. I really don't have any contact with them and don't know anyone who does. Lucent's another unknown. They have a cross-licensing agreement with TI already, but does it cover subsidiaries? If not, then they would want to own the technology --- if they plan to offer DMT. Nortel. Hmmmm. . . long history. . . they could have had Amati several years ago. . . they turned it down. . . probably too many tender egos at this point. NEC. Would never be able to move fast enough. They couldn't even get the caps off their pens before TI had the shares tendered and locked in the vault. Fujitsu. Nah. They have Orckit. Alcatel. Too much duplication and they probably feel as though they're far enough ahead of the competition to worry about a defensive move. Lots of fun speculating, though it's probably futile. TI wants this deal to close and will do everything they can to expedite it. I talked to their IR guy today and he says they have a large booklet almost ready to send that will answer all our questions about the merger and what the implications are on tendering shares, either within the scheduled time frame or outside it. As for wishing everyone had made more money, heck, if this stock didn't give people about a zillion opportunities, I don't know what could. All anyone had to do was buy on dips and sell a couple points later. You could almost set your clock by it. Cheers! Pat
