to suggest that we have benefited because our multinationals have prospered is simply wrong Didn't say that.. we have gutted ourselves to benefit the rest of the globe Sure... but that is less a function of globalisation than the endless pursuit of crap (abetting the multinationals which have prospered) by so many Americans.. buying into the 'need for crap religion'.. buy now... pay later.. or default.. if that were not so.. there would not be the same issue.. to blame it on globalisation is like saying capitalism , the American ideal ,is wrong... The only difference now is that the rest of the world is not getting screwed anymore as US dominance wanes.. (other places acting like Oliver and asking for more) no more have your cake and eat it too... globalisation simply exposes the rot as I have said for years here... The US needs to learn to share more of the pie.. and yes your super high standard of living bubble is bursting.. call it elmat's natural size.. similar idea.. if the US retreats inward through tariffs etc,.. the standard of living will drop even more... adapt or perish...
