Joe, you are assuming that it works by asserting "self-fulfilling". But I repeat, there is no evidence that it works. Your cutting a chart in half is a perfect example. Years ago I used a computer to sniff out historic head and shoulders patterns to see if they were predictive of anything. They weren't! I also tried to fit stock prices using ARIMA models -- no success.

Now I contend that these are real world studies.
