There's nothing like a bunch of clean cut college kids sitting on the ground linking arms, protesting the fact that other college kids got beaten up at another UC, to remind you of a bunch of violent revolutionaries and a communist regime....

That's why every time I see a teabagger I know I'm really looking at the Son of Sam- and I don't mean Uncle.

When I read that, I started humming "tin soldiers and Nixon drumming". When I think about Nixon, I get sort of nostalgic - he had his problems, but if you look at policies, he would come out well to the left of Obama.

The obsession of the current right with the 60s is weird. I think everybody would agree that the Viet Nam war was pretty tragic for all involved. But at least everybody took it seriously. In our current long war, the main point of agreement among the right seems to be that waterboarding is a good thing. And Obama is evil for not agreeing. Not only lame compared with the Viet Nam era, lame compared to the Obama -McCain campaign, That's life in the new millennium.
