Fellow Conservatives:

I'm writing to announce the next Senate Conservatives Fund endorsement. It goes to Mark Neumann, candidate for U.S. Senate in Wisconsin.

Mark Neumann is a proven, conservative leader and he's running against Tommy Thompson, a Republican who helped President Obama pass his healthcare takeover.

We're endorsing Mark Neumann because he has the strongest conservative record in the field, he has the support of the grassroots, and he's in the best position to win this race for freedom-loving Americans.

As many of you know, Mark Neumann is a successful businessman, a former congressman, and a longtime conservative champion. When Neumann was in Congress in the mid-90's, he fought against wasteful Washington spending and earned a 96% lifetime conservative voting record. He had the courage to stand up to the leaders in his own party when they wanted to spend too much, which even got him kicked off the Appropriations Committee.

If Mark Neumann is elected, there is no question he will fight for the principles of freedom that make America great.

Support Mark Neumann for U.S. Senate

I recently asked the members of the Senate Conservatives Fund for input on this race. Wisconsin only requires candidates to win a plurality so it's critical that conservatives unite behind one candidate. Otherwise, our votes will be divided and Tommy Thompson could win with far less than a majority vote.

Over 88 percent of members who took our survey said SCF should endorse Mark Neumann and over 60 percent said they would donate to his campaign. This overwhelming response demonstrates strong grassroots support for Neumann's campaign, and it's a major reason why we're backing him today.

Tommy Thompson's liberal record makes winning this race even more important. The Cato Institute reported that Thompson's budgets as governor called for “massive new spending." In fact, his FY2000 budget increased spending in Wisconsin by 13 percent. And according to the Club for Growth, "Tommy Thompson’s record on taxes is even worse." His 1995 budget plan included nearly $400 million in new fees and taxes, and his 1998 budget contained new taxes on cigarettes, gasoline, and Internet sales.

But the most concerning part of Tommy Thompsons’s record is his past support for ObamaCare. Thompson helped the President pass ObamaCare, opposed its repeal, and worked with the Obama Administration on its implementation.

This is not the record of a conservative and it's not the kind of leadership we need in the United States Senate.

Support Mark Neumann for U.S. Senate

The choice in this race could not be more clear. On one hand, we have Mark Neumann, a rock-solid conservative who has demonstrated the courage to stand up to the big spenders in both political parties. On the other hand, we have Tommy Thompson, an establishment Republican with a record of helping liberals to pass budget-busting policies that take away our freedoms.

Please join me in taking a stand in this critical U.S. Senate race.

Mark Neumann is up against a well-known and well-funded opponent but he can win if conservatives unite behind his campaign. If he wins the primary election, he stands a very good chance of winning this seat next November. In fact, recent polls already show Neumann neck and neck with his likely Democratic opponent -- Tammy Baldwin.

Thank you for your continued support and generosity.

Respectfully,

Jim DeMint
United States Senator
Chairman, Senate Conservatives Fund

P.S. Mark Neumann is the fourth candidate to win the Senate Conservatives Fund endorsement. He joins Josh Mandel (Ohio), Ted Cruz (Texas), and Don Stenberg (Nebraska) in the fight to restore America's greatness.
