Merced is expected to be the follow on product for the
Pentium Pro chip used widely in high end applications such as
scientific workstations address. The initial version of
Merced will retain the historic x86 architecture and therefore
will remain backward compatible with all of its predecessors.
However, the Son of Merced will follow the original Merced
and will once and for all divorce from x86 architecture to
a new design. This will be a very big and historic step for
Intel when it occurs.

RE: PGILD = MERCED
Does anyone else see what I see?

Can you pls provide us with more of your thoughts? How does UTEK directly benefit if Merced manufacturing goes to the Japanese cos? Are you concerned that Intel wants to give away taxpayer funded research to Japanese manufacturerers?
