1. Superiority to ATM, and the specific ATM switches that were replaced.
>>>I don't know if everyone had a chance to scrutinize the Sun link on GE I posted last week, but that author said he "laughed" when he considers the idea that GE could outperform ATM in the LAN. This ATM hype is not insurmountable.

2. Plug and play aspects - FC is very easy to install, assuming the
right cable is in place.

3. ATM does not support SCSI protocol, and can't be used in the SAN.

There are certainly reasons to be optimistic, but there is a window of
opportunity rather than a sea of change.<<<

George-Asked the president of a large systems inegration company that I know to comment on your post. STRONGLY agreed with your window of opportunity comments. The question was posed that the hype about ATM might not be insurmountable but is the politics and money already involved with GE insurmountable.
1 switch may not have been a big deal today but it seems clear that todays announcement is meant for a very wide audience. One small step for Ancor one giant step for FC.An excellent job by Ken and Cal to turn this small sale announcement into a proclamation.
