But I can get them on other systems for $799. So it has a significant advantage than the compaq 486GX's.

That's exactly what I am saying. Does it not have the Cyrix 5x86 core? Which is a 486 equivalent. Just increasing the Mhz, and saying that it is a pentium equivalent, does not make it a pentium.

You should try Quake on it. The 486GX is REAL SLOW. Thus it was
rightly categorized as an Internet Appliance.
