Paul...you are right, the split doesn't add any REAL value to the issue...BUT..as you pointed out ,the number of folks that see this differently most always jump in and cause a run up in the stock....just another point of view

Paul,

If someone is dealing with options - covered call for example, you would appreciate having more shares. Not that I'm writing calls on Dell (or Drew for that matter). Also, if I have double my shares and I get a two to five dollar day, I feel really good! Am I looking at it wrong? (Be kind to me - I'm sure you know more about this than I do)

In the past, every time Dell said it was going to split, I venture to guess that it flew up just on that news. I mean mucho bucks. But the past is no predictor of future results, etc....

Paul, the reason people seem to excited about stock splits is that it represents a statement of confidence by the company about its prospects in the future. Every time Dell has split, in the last two years it has added 10 - 15 points pre-split.
