THere will never be BIG money in the USBL. Look at the CBA -- much better talent, no money. THis league has been around for a long time. Remember Manute Bol the really tall skinny guy who could not make it in the NBA? He started out in the USBL in Providence I believe -- that was in the mid-eighties. Sports Illustrated did a story about the league back then -- nothing. If you could buy stock in a minor league baseball team -- would you? I do not see big money here -- I see profits, but not a lot of great potential. $300,000 initial fee -- $15,000/year for each team. Earnings cannot be all that terrific -- even long-term. How much sports can one country support? Two women's basketball leagues? Two minor leagues for the NBA, plus the overseas leagues? You can buy stock in the Boston Celtics if you want... to lose money. The team does well, the stock sucks.
Sorry to be a bummer, but I was once a small-time college prospect and the USBL was not worth a thing back then.
THis will obviously move -- if all of you buy it. Meyerson used to call me with IPOs -- all losers -- glad I do not buy on cold-calls.
