NaNoWriMo occurs every year in the month of November. It's a contest with one's self. To win requires that you write 50,000 words in November. That is the only standard. If you write that many, you win. It doesn't have to be good, legible, readable, or even a novel. You can cheat if you want to but what would it gain you? You dishonor yourself, and nobody cares if you win anyway. Everybody cares only whether they win themselves. Some of the output has actually been published.
