ken...back around the late 1940's or early 50's a University in Washington State fired a number of suspected communists..one of them a professor named Phillips...can you add any information about this?

Seems as though the State of Washington is still a hot bed for commies, Is this just a carry over from past years? Just thought you may be able to expand on this?

ken, And some people say it's a do nothing senate. sounds like irans moslum iatolla kominie may have been involved with this bill?

Many many Americans are struggling to survive and and reid the democrat feels this is much more important..is harry good buddies with barney?

(CNSNews.com)(Updated) The Senate on Thursday evening voted 93-7 to approve a defense authorization bill that includes a provision which not only repeals the military law on sodomy, it also repeals the military ban on sex with animals--or bestiality.

On Nov. 15, the Senate Armed Services Committee had unanimously approved S. 1867, the National Defense Authorization Act, which includes a provision to repeal Article 125 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ).

Article 125 of the UCMJ makes it illegal to engage in both sodomy with humans and sex with animals.

It states: "(a) Any person subject to this chapter who engages in unnatural carnal copulation with another person of the same or opposite sex or with an animal is guilty of sodomy. Penetration, however slight, is sufficient to complete the offense. (b) Any person found guilty of sodomy shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.”

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins said the effort to remove sodomy from military law stems from liberal Senate Democrats' and President Obama’s support for removing the military’s Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy.

“It’s all about using the military to advance this administration’s radical social agenda,” Perkins told CNSNews.com. “Not only did they overturn Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, but they had another problem, and that is, under military law sodomy is illegal, just as adultery is illegal, so they had to remove that prohibition against sodomy.”

Perkins said removing the bestiality provision may have been intentional--or just “collateral damage”

“Well, whether it was inadvertent or not, they have also taken out the provision against bestiality,” he said. “So now, under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), there’s nothing there to prosecute bestiality."

Former Army Col. Bob Maginnis said some military lawyers have indicated that bestiality may be prosecutable under another section of the military code of justice – the “catch-all” Article 134 for offenses against “good military order and discipline.”

But don't count on that, he said.

“If we have a soldier who engages in sodomy with an animal – whether a government animal or a non-government animal – is it, in fact, a chargeable offense under the Uniform Code? I think that’s in question,” Maginnis told CNSNews.com.

“When the reader stops laughing, the reader needs to ask the question whether or not this is in the best interests of the government, in the best interests of the military and the best interests of the country? I think not.”

He added: “Soldiers, unfortunately, like it or not, have engaged in this type of behavior in the past. Will they in the future, if they remove this statute? I don’t know.”

Perkins said there was no attempt to remove the UCMJ repeal provision from the bill, which Perkins had expected the Senate to approve.

Now that it has passed, however, the Senate version will have to go to a conference committee, and Perkins predicts there will be several sticking points with the House.

“The House in their version of the defense authorization, reinforced the Defense of Marriage Act, saying that there is a military DOMA as well, prohibiting same-sex marriage on military bases – something the Department of Defense is pushing for,” he said.

“And now this is an added concern, that sodomy has been removed, and as we have discovered, that bestiality--the prohibition against it--has been removed from the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So yes, the House will have problems with this bill.”

Snow White and the 7 dwarfs
December 02, 2011

On yesterday's front page of USA Today, the main headline read "Guns were a big seller on Black Friday." According to the article, sales of firearms hit record numbers on the day after Thanksgiving, with a surge in FBI background checks by 129,166 new buyers – "smashing the single-day, all-time high by 32 percent, according to bureau records."

In an apparent state of denial about why guns sales have surged at this time, the left-leaning USA Today disingenuously quotes a few so-called firearms experts and "reports": "Some gun industry analysts attributed the usual surge to a convergence of factors, including an increasing number of first-time buyers seeking firearms for protection and women who are being drawn to sport shooting and hunting." Referencing one obviously brain-damaged source, the daily quotes Dennis Henigan, acting president of the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence, as saying the "he was 'skeptical' of the Black Friday gun surge, adding 'I think there is no real significance at all. … It's possible that gun companies are just catching on to creating a Black Friday frenzy for themselves.'" REALLY!

It is obvious to anyone other than an anti-gun public-interest group like the Brady Center – which wants to claim credit for reducing ownership in firearms to generate more donor contributions – that the American people, true to the intent of the Founding Fathers as embodied in the Second Amendment, are largely stocking up on guns during this time of economic and international crisis and peril to protect themselves from the evils of a dishonest, non-responsive and incompetent government that has brought the nation and the rest of the Western world to the brink of total collapse. This so-called government – as seen with Obamacare, the threat of increased taxes and other forms of fiscal confiscation and violation of property and privacy rights, to name just a few "atrocities" – is busy invading our individual and family rights and taking away our liberties. And, all the while the so-called opposition political party, the Republican "leaders," sit by and play patty cake, feather their own nest and simply watch as the vision of our Founding Fathers is eroded and destroyed by Obama and the rest of the socialist establishment hacks, particularly in Washington, D.C., and the media.

It is evident that the people have near lost total hope and now are arming themselves to the hilt for the next revolution. And why have they lost near total hope at this time? Simply put, because they see no one on the horizon who can lead this nation back from Armageddon.

If there were an alternative to President Obama and his Democratic minions, it certainly is not found in the presidential candidates of the Republican Party. While leftist with its spin, the New York Times, in a front-page article of last Thursday entitled "G.O.P. Leaders Still Seem Torn About Backing Romney," has it somewhat right: "Even though the candidates have spent months – or in the cases of Mr. Romney and Mr. Gingrich, years – introducing themselves, there is a palpable lack of passion for their candidates. It is an intense yearning to defeat Obama that creates the enthusiasm, rather than the notion of one of the candidates serving in the Oval Office."

Yes, there is a desire to defeat Obama, but it is not an "enthusiasm" given the slate of Republican contenders who offer little hope, even if elected, to turn the country and the free world around.

As I searched for a title for this column, I came up with "Snow White and the 7 dwarfs," understanding that the over-sexed candidacy of Herman Cain has not at publication been declared totally neutered. With "he-man" Herman gone, the title would have only been "The 7 dwarfs" – as the candidates would then number just seven.

As for Snow White, Michele Bachmann, she is a great person and attractive, but is not ready for prime time as yet – as demonstrated by her poor judgment in having hired Republican establishment hack Ed Rollins as her first campaign manager. Rollins counseled her to disingenuously avoid discussing key conservative issues – like the teaching of the "normalcy" of homosexuality in the public schools – and virtually destroyed her campaign.

Mitt Romney, the most handsome of the dwarfs, is in fact a liberal cross-dresser cast in a new mini-skirt, but the stubble on his bowed leftist legs still shows through.

Newt Gingrich, the intelligent, creative and overstuffed dwarf, is not only ethically and morally bereft, but he, too, has desperately changed his positions faster than Kim Kardashian prior to her own recent divorce.

Ron Paul, a latent anti-Semite and anti-Persian dwarf – when it comes to his antipathy toward Israel and the Iranian freedom movement in particular – is becoming as stale as a loaf of old wrinkly bread; I for one am simply tired of hearing his same old-same old, self-serving schtick – coupled with his annoying smirk that revels in his own "isolationist genius" every time he opens his mouth during a debate.

Rick Perry, the dwarf whose new campaign commercial suggests that he is proud of his name "Dopey," is just that.

Another Rick, Rick Santorum looks and acts as presidential as "Howdy Doody," and needs a new "dwarf name," as he does not fit the Disney mold.

And, last but not least, John Huntsman, while an intelligent dwarf and at least knowledgeable about foreign affairs, is not only a liberal, but showed the poor judgment by becoming Obama's ambassador to China. Simply put, he can't be trusted.

So there you have it; there is a present likelihood that Barack Hussein Obama will be re-elected president!

And, even were one of the Republican dwarfs to miraculously win the presidency, there is little to no hope of great, much less responsive, political leadership on the horizon. The people see this and are busy arming themselves, in self-defense, for the revolution to come.

Let us pray that violent revolt will not break out before all other options are exhausted, but our Founding Fathers, faced with a similar dilemma, were forced to eventually choose this path by risking, and in many cases sacrificing, their fortunes and lives.

Is the past a prologue? With no functioning form of representative government likely to be installed in 2012, it well may be!

..Justice Dept. details how it got statements wrong
By PETE YOST
news.yahoo.com

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Justice Department on Friday provided Congress with documents detailing how department officials gave inaccurate information to a U.S. senator in the controversy surrounding Operation Fast and Furious, the flawed law enforcement initiative aimed at dismantling major arms trafficking networks on the Southwest border.

In a letter last February to Charles Grassley, the ranking Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, the Justice Department said that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms had not sanctioned the sale of assault weapons to a straw purchaser and that the agency makes every effort to intercept weapons that have been purchased illegally. In Operation Fast and Furious, both statements turned out to be incorrect.

The Justice Department letter was responding to Grassley's statements that the Senate Judiciary Committee had received allegations the ATF had sanctioned the sale of hundreds of assault weapons to suspected straw purchasers. Grassley also said there were allegations that two of the assault weapons had been used in a shootout that killed customs agent Brian Terry.

In an email four days later to Justice Department colleagues, then-U.S. Attorney Dennis Burke in Phoenix said that "Grassley's assertions regarding the Arizona investigation and the weapons recovered" at the "murder scene are based on categorical falsehoods. I worry that ATF will take 8 months to answer this when they should be refuting its underlying accusations right now." That email marked the start of an internal debate in the Justice Department over what and how much to say in response to Grassley's allegations. The fact that there was an ongoing criminal investigation into Terry's murder prompted some at the Justice Department to argue for less disclosure.

Some of what turned out to be incorrect information was emailed to Lanny Breuer, the assistant attorney general in charge of the Justice Department's criminal division. Breuer sent an email saying "let's help as much as we can" in responding to Grassley.

The emails sent to Capitol Hill on Friday showed that Burke supplied additional incorrect information to the Justice Department's criminal division that ended up being forwarded to Breuer. For example, Burke said that the guns found at the Terry murder scene were purchased at a Phoenix gun shop before Operation Fast and Furious began. In fact, the operation was under way at the time and the guns found at the Terry murder scene were part of the probe. Breuer was one of the recipients of that information. In written comments this week to Grassley, Breuer said that he was on a three-day official trip to Mexico at the time of the Justice Department response and that he was aware of, but not involved in, drafting the Justice Department statements to Grassley. Breuer says he cannot say for sure whether he saw a draft of the letter before it was sent to Grassley.

Where Burke got the inaccurate information is now part of an inquiry conducted by the inspector general's office at the Justice Department.

Burke's information was followed by a three-day struggle in which officials in the office of the deputy attorney general, the criminal division and the ATF came up with what turned out to be an inaccurate response to Grassley's assertions.

The process became so intensive that Breuer aide Jason Weinstein emailed his boss, "The Magna Carta was easier to get done than this was." A copy of the latest draft was attached to the emails.

Initial drafts of the letter reflected the hard tone of Burke's unequivocal assertions that the allegations Grassley was hearing from ATF agents were wrong. Later drafts were more measured, prompting Burke to complain in one email: "Every version gets weaker. We will be apologizing" to Grassley "by tomorrow afternoon." Regarding the allegation that ATF sanctioned the sale of assault weapons to a straw purchaser, the Justice Department denial was scaled back slightly from "categorically false" to "false." ''Why poke the tiger," Lisa Monaco, the top aide to the deputy attorney general, explained in an email to Ron Weich, the assistant attorney general for legislative affairs whose signature was on the letter.

In another email, Burke wrote, "By the way, what is so offensive about this whole project" of response "is that Grassley's staff, acting as willing stooges for the Gun Lobby, have attempted to distract from the incredible success in dismantling" Southwest Border "gun trafficking operations" and "not uttering one word of rightful praise and thanks to ATF — but, instead, lobbing this reckless despicable accusation that ATF is complicit in the murder of a fellow federal law enforcement officer."

On Friday night, Grassley spokeswoman Beth Levine said that "Burke personally apologized to Sen. Grassley's staff for the tone and the content of the emails" after learning from the Justice Department that the emails would be released.

It is unusual for the Justice Department to provide such detail of its internal deliberations as it did on Friday with Congress.

The department turned over 1,364 pages of material after concluding "that we will make a rare exception to the department's recognized protocols and provide you with information related to how the inaccurate information came to be included in the letter," Deputy Attorney General James Cole wrote Grassley and Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, which is looking into the Obama administration's handling of Operation Fast and Furious.

Operation Fast and Furious involved more than 2,000 weapons that were purchased by straw buyers at Phoenix-area gun stores. Nearly 700 of the Fast and Furious guns have been recovered — 276 in Mexico and 389 in the United States, according to ATF data as of Oct. 20.

Amid probes by Republicans in Congress and the IG, the Justice Department in August replaced Burke, acting ATF Director Kenneth Melson and the lead prosecutor in Operation Fast and Furious.
