There are all kinds of guesses as to what might happen and some

or many might get it right, for the most part. It is largely guesswork because we are
looking at new problems using old models (on paper, in our minds, in discussions).
Leaving aside the right or wrong issue, my greatest worry is not local riots, local
instability or even the Jasmin revolution. My worry is the assmax phenomenon leading
to a global war, which is what could happen when things get bad and the asses who
make decisions are looking for a distraction. I conjecture that, more than at any other
time in history, we now have the maximum number of asses in leadership positions
all over the world. The conditions are ripe.

Instead of a Chinese Jasmin revolution I propose that we have a Global Assmax
revolution to save the world. Regrettably, the very formation of such an organization
will bring about new asses wanting to be in charge, unless people learn to be very
conscious of what they do to themselves and others. But sometimes, a smaller evil
can buy some time. Time and genuine intelligence can work wonders.

I'm only half-serious, but fully afraid. :)

you are still reading the economists? why?

bad debt? print away.

average chinese family saves 25% of income, and spends 25% on food. so food inflation can do another 100%, all exchange rates being equal and take-homes being equal, to bring china family to global norm.

so you are saying the rmb should rise against the dollar or fall? or both since you do not seem to be able to make up your mind?
