Thanks gottfried. I do know about the SIPC. Unfortunately it did not help MF GLobal customers. (yes, hedge fund I know) And it still doesn't address the cause the the MF Global losses, the SEC rule that allows commingling of assets. At least its something. Hopefully it is all one needs, but I would be much more comforted if IB simply couldn't use my funds to offset trades by their firm. Period.

SIPC would pay with what in worst case scenariso? promises of worthless as yet printed dollars somewhere down the road
