The saddest and most appalling part of TARP and the countless "stimulus packages" and "bailout packages" that followed in the wake of TARP was not the fact that money was stolen from taxpayers and given to Congress, the White House, and their political owners/enablers in the banking industry and selected corporations. Yes, that part was extremely bad, but the worst part was that their heinous crimes killed the natural order of capitalism! In true capitalism, the errant ideas and flawed business models of firms such as the U.S. Central Bank (Federal Reserve), AIG, JP Morgan Chase, Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, GM, et al., are supposed to fail, die, dry up, and blow away in the wind. Capitalism dictates that failed firms will be replaced by younger, smaller, healthier, and growing firms that successfully fill the voids of their deceased predecessors by (a) meeting the commerce demands of their clients, and (c) improving on their failed ideas and derelict business models. TARP and all of the ensuing rescue packages prevented all of that from transpiring. Instead, it rewarded the failed ideas and flawed business models with trillions and trillions of clownbucks. It rewarded failure! By definition, capitalism never does that! Instead, the government effectively merged with numerous private firms in an evil state/corporate power arrangement that constitutes fascism. -nfg-
