Yes the float will be smaller, tighter when the certs are called.

There is a certain type of shorter who would phantom short, even if all were in cert form, but why would they dare? Especially, when there are so many other stocks with much larger floats where the shares have not been returned to shareholders. These shorters are nasty but they're not idiots.

Removing shares doesn't make the actual float smaller but it does make the effective float smaller and less shares available for trading. If there are no available shares to short against because everyone is getting their certs, then that would eliminate both declared and undeclared shorts. Remember, if a MM sells you shares that he shorted and you call for your certificates, he MUST give you the shares. If he doesn't have them and can't borrow them anywhere then he will have to buy them from the market. The fact that he has an undeclared position makes it worse for him, where is he going to get the shares for you if you request your certs when you buy from the shorter and everyone else is holding theirs? Do you see how effective calling the certs can be?

Most everyone who is buying now is buying shorted shares from a shorter. MAKE HIM GIVE YOU YOUR SHARES because he doesn't have them. He will have to scour around to get them or else buy from the market.
Make his life miserable, isn't he making your lives miserable now?

REMEMBER, ANYONE WHO DOESN'T REQUEST THEIR CERTS WHEN THEIR ORDER IS FILLED IS LETTING THE SHORTER GET AWAY WITH SHORTING NON-EXISTENT STOCK! STOP HIM FROM GETTING AWAY WITH MURDER!

How many of you would buy merchandise of any kind and pay for it but never make the seller give you the merchandise. It is the buyers responsibility to make sure the seller delivers, otherwise he is getting a free ride. This is exactly what investors are allowing shorters to get away with. Is this clear now?

Sam-The float remains the same, but the amount of shares available to borrow decreases, forcing the shorts to cover their positions in the market. The float is all shares that are available to the public (not restricted for purchase in a private placement or owned by insiders etc.)
