Bombshell: DEA laundering money for Mexican cartels
Congressman says it fuels speculation of 'conspiracy to crank up violence on border'
December 06, 2011

The investigation into the gun-smuggling scheme known as "Fast and Furious" is taking a new twist.

The Justice Department was hit with a fresh investigation this week amid reports the DEA is laundering money for Mexico's drug cartels.

"It's the cover-up that gets you every time and the smoking gun is always in the emails," said Rep. Blake Farenthold, R-Texas, a member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, which is investigating "Fast and Furious."

House Republicans are now expanding the probe to include the alleged DEA cartel money laundering scheme.

"It's time for the folks involved in this to come clean, name names and where appropriate resign," Farenthold told WND's Greg Corombos.

He adds the recent revelations fuel speculation of "a conspiracy afoot to crank up the violence on the southern border for political reasons."
