I think everyone is afraid to say anything for fear of jinxing SYCR's little run. Amazing how the dump to 1.43 took out most of the babblers like myself.

Tommy,

Most companies have to guess at the real number of shareholders. They have their lists of known shareholders (in certificate form in their safety deposit boxes), other large shareholders, etc.

But when stocks are held in street name at your local brokerage, it may be difficult to know who all the holders are there at any given time. Also there are shares which could be registered in the name of trusts, for which there might be multiple beneficiaries.

That probably explains the disparity in the numbers.
