Burp-up, Illinois has had its share of high officials, Republican's and Democratic's, going back for decades from the Southern end of the State to the North. Many of the Southern Illinois State Legislators were tied to the Cook County, and Chicago political structure going back and prior to the late Mayor Dailey time when patronage systems were full blown. During those times to get a job you had to be able to deliver the votes for the patronage system.

But, if we stop and think about our current time it is really not much different now. Those who make large contributions to candidates get access to the legislators while those who do not make contributions have difficult gaining access past the Legislator's Legislative Assistances (Chief of Staff and secretaries).

My wife worked for two Governor's, Senators and Representative and had a first had experience with the access situation. Legislator's are beholding to their contributors!!
