I read an SA article postulating an AMZN's short's belief to the effect of what you are saying (material percentage of returned Kindle Fires), but I've a very difficult time with the logic. The SA article speculates that the number of one star reviews indicates material quantities are being returned - a highly dubious speculation. The Fire, in fact, has a lower percentage of one star reviews than other Kindle models made by Amazon; so this would indicate a lower return rate than expectation. The better explanation is that a person is more likely to provide a review of a product if they have a negative experience; something I know to be true for myself.

I could be wrong, but this line of thought seems to be wishful thinking based analysis of AAPL longs or AMZN shorts. :)
