Anyone,

If we could assume a worldwide currency deflation will lead to higher gold prices (perhaps in a delayed reaction as in the 30's), what will this mean for diamonds?

I understand pearls are already starting to flood Western markets at lower prices and jade supplies have opened. I learned this from a San Francisco merchant whose family (in the Far East and U.S.) have been traders of pearls and jade for generations. Could it be that these forms of wealth are the fore shock of other major assest sales from Asian owners? Will they convert these assests to Dollars, Dollar demoninated instruments, or gold - and if gold, why not diamonds? At the same time, shouldn't pearls and jade also be vehicles for storing wealth?
