[Cayman Systems And Alcatel Mietec Sign Agreement For ADSL DynaMiTe
Product Development]

STONEHAM, Mass. and BRUSSELS, Belgium--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 20, 1997--Cayman Systems and Alcatel Mietec (NYSE:ALA) have signed an MOU under which Alcatel Mietec will supply their DynaMiTe ADSL DMT chipset and firmware for use in Cayman Systems' RADSL Customer Premise product code named Kayak. Kayak has an expected ship date of early 1998. The agreement involves Alcatel's third generation automatic Rate Adaptive Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line (R-ADSL) modem chipset MTK-20131.

Cayman Systems will use the DynaMiTe chips in Kayak -- which will integrate the power of ATM over ADSL with the Simplicity of the LAN. Kayak combines Cayman's Swift-IP(TM) zero-configuration integrated router, ATM UNI capabilities and the blazing speed and flexibility of the standards-compliant DynaMiTe ADSL technology in a single easy-to-deploy package. Kayak will further Cayman Systems' goal of providing the broadest range of xDSL products for the Customer Premise -- products that interoperate with Central Office equipment from industry leading vendors.

"Cayman is excited to be one of the early users of the new Alcatel Mietec chipset," said Heidi Clark, president and COO of Cayman Systems. "We will be providing Cayman's ATM and LAN router functionality with what promises to be the most widely deployed high-speed ADSL technology. This announcement emphasizes Cayman's ongoing efforts to expand what is already the broadest family of integrated xDSL Customer Premise routers."

The DynaMiTe Chipset

The new DynaMiTe modem kit (MTK-20131) combines the digital functions of the DMT modem and ATM framer with Utopia interface into a single 0.35 chip. A second chip incorporates the analog front end using a 0.5 analog process, while a third ARM based controller chip provides monitoring and control interface to the host system as well as managing the modem functions. The DynaMiTe chipset is designed to be fully compliant with issue 2 of the ANSI Standard T1E1.413 specification, category 2".

Thanks. i just now finally found the relevant section and you are right. The person that brought this to my attention obviously misread it.
