I don't think anyone was was to buy the iPhone 4 ahead of the new product launch in October. Britain sold 42% of their smart phones in October to the iPhone. There was a lot of pent up demand after a year and a half without a new model. Apple seems to have nailed the replacement cycle this year with the iPhone 4S for the Euro GSM carriers. Next year, the replacement demand for the iPhone 4 with VZ should be kicking in too. I guess it will take another year after that for replacement cycles to kick in for the other CDMA carriers like S and KDDI. But, it won't really matter once they start selling iPhones in China to all 3 carriers.
