The theme, humbly, is this:

Policymakers in midst of electoral cycle will ignore, neglect, deny, kick can, etc., as Rome burns.

The debt, in absence of haircuts/jubilee, is unplayable and therefore deadly.

The Corzines, Dimons, Blankfeins and assorted miscreants know this so have ramped up theft operations, increasing systemic risk, knowing that they are safe because they have bought and paid for immunity. If there ever was a time to hunker down, protect capital, this is it.

US economy is indeed doing a tad better. Our multinationals (hesitate to use the term 'our' as they are stateless sharks), are efficient, cash heavy, profitable and productive. But are they good enough when compared to Au's circa 20% yield, yes, yield. Sure, gold pays no divvies, but who cares for 4% in view of 20%? Arguments about gold's lack of 'yield' are silly.

Anyway, more financial treachery will be the norm for 2012, leaving gold once again as the life raft. As it has been forever and ever, amen, hallelujah.
