Here is something you might be interested.

In 1996 a joint task force of the American Society for Clinical Nutrition and the American Institute of Nutrition concluded that trans unsaturated fats have adverse effects on cholesterol profiles but that these effects are less adverse than those of saturated fats. (6) Therefore, the task force concluded that trans unsaturated fats were reasonable substitutes for saturated fats but not for polyunsaturated fats. In that same year, the Health Professionals Follow-up Study showed a relative risk of coronary heart disease of 1.4 for men in the upper quintile of dietary trans fat intake. (7)
