What I have found is the dog has to know kitty is part of the family and no grab ass or bullshit will be tolerated plus the dog's life won't be changed by the new addition.

Something that works for both the kitty and dogs is the "Duster" - compressed air in a can. Animals hate to have that shot of air in the face. Wouldn't work for a dog chasing a car, but if they're indoors, it's very effective.

Somehow, somewhere, some time...this will happen. They're going to have to settle it themselves.

If Stella has never been in a fight with a cat....she might back off after being introduced to Kitty's claws, but if it is her instinct to 'protect' her family from all intruders....foreign and domestic...it might not turn out well for Kitty.
